The Global Environmental
Change and Human Security Project Office at UCI (GECHS-UCI) was
established in 1999 to explore the ways in which environmental change
affects the lives and welfare of individuals and groups around the
world, especially in developing countries.
In 2003, GECHS-UCI was
incorporated into the
Center for Unconventional Security Affairs
(CUSA) at UCI. GECHS-UCI's research and fieldwork on environmental
security issues remain a core project of CUSA.
